Newish Yarn

OK so I asked Alchemy Yarns if they wouldn’t mind sending me some of that red/orange yarn I had used to make the cowl my way. Leftovers you know and any partial ball in the blue or green range for kiddie cowls. Of Course I expected the costs to be deducted from my pay. Leftovers only because a hank would easily make 3 or 4 cowls and I didn’t want to have Gina, the dyer, sit down to fill an order for moi when there were shops keeping her busy. Lookie what she sent:

The blue is a bit more white smokey based:

Now I have enough Promise to make shawls for each girl instead of cowls. What a treat!

On the subject of yarn I have relisted the stuff that was listed before the darned SBC folks decided we couldn’t have internet connection at both places. Feel free to scope it out and look for more as I unpack my boxes. Ya its getting a bit chilly in mornings and evenings here in midwest and the heavier weight yarns I had listed are looking more appealing but poot I was already emotionally destashed.

Lastly another shot of the scarf. I am incapable of laying it out with all the edges strait as can be. Maybe it does need blocking of some sort?

Have a great yarny day you guys

Midnight tam in progress–see the seduction factor? I’m telling you after all the reds, oranges, and yellows of summertime knitting this soothes my soul. The colors are real close so that I can barely tell the difference between the BC and CC but thats ok. I’m old and sure its my eyes. I certainly see the difference in the picture

I didn’t get a good picture of the Faina’s scarf FO so here are two til I lay it out upstairs and fiddle. Its late for my daily posting and just tried to get something-anything– to show you after the long time since pictures. The fringe//end portion:Image184.jpg

And one center repeat to show the scarf isnt’ wonky wide at end and narrow in center but rather a victem of poor photography: Image183.jpg
hmmm its looking wonky there too but it isn’t. I didn’t stretch block it as one normally does for lace because I used finer yarn and same needle size called for. As a historically loose knitter I can assume my guage is a bit off but I haven’t measured my scarf yet. I just washed the baby and put her in the drawer for this winter.

Ok knitfans lots to show you in the coming week; Colinette T, Highland Shawl, Alchemy yarn and the icky Tank. Woo hoo I don’t have to knit too much so that I can do show and share. Til Monday.

Just Like A Butterfly

Yep thats me–flitting from project to project. And unlike me cause I am oddly disatisfied with everything. The hussy wear I showed you yesterday hasn’t been touched. The Hoxbro tunic from cover of IK is still eh. I may break down and show it to you tomorrow. Tonight another project I have been flirting with:Faina’s Scarf. Now I have some cream colored alpaca in the fingering to sport weight called for in pattern. Some vintage 80’s Unger Precious[I think] stash stuff and this loverly pattern. Since I took the Lorna’s Laces stuff off my do it before all else shelf I subbed an equal yardage of various scarf-y type patterns and yarns. Now I am allergic kinda to alpaca. Angora definitely-alpaca bothers me sometimes. Silly me is insistent on the alpaca so only a few rows here and there. For about a month. How far along am I? Row 80 outta 425. This from the gal that whizzes through shawls. The pattern is throwing me for a loop. The yarn is tickling my nostrils. My stitches look as if I was a 6yr old on first project. And the needles are curly. Grinch grinch grinch. But it certainly is a loverly pattern. Judge for yourselves:

By and by before I say adious amigas…. I noticed today while blog hopping that several folks are either tackling or mentioning the too good to knit with yarn. I admit I too have a yarn that is ‘too nice’ to use mentality. And such a sad thing to think that way. Yarn, after all, has a raison d’etre[somebody will tell me how to put accents up one day til then forgive me] namely to be used. Tho finding beauty in something can be a virtue; purpose and usefulness are, at the end of the day, far more valuable than looks. Let’s use our yarn instead of beating ourselves up for not being good enough//worthy knitters. OK?
